Are you a Tough Mudder?

Will Dean, 33, is the founder and boss of Tough Mudder, the world’s biggest organiser of extreme obstacle course races. Last year, half a million people around the world paid up to £120 each to take part in one of the company’s events.

In exchange, participants are then challenged to run, jump, swim, crawl and haul themselves around a 10 to 12 mile military-style obstacle course. In their way are up to 25 obstacles which include submerging themselves in icy water, slither through mud, dodge live electric cables and barbed wire, and push their weary bodies over numerous walls.

While this sounds physically painful to most of us, New-York-based Tough Mudder is hugely popular and its events can sell out months in advance. Events this year in the Midlands and Yorkshire have already sold out but the London dates for 2015 have been released so why not set you, your family or work mates a real challenge, and sign up before it sells out! The French Open

We are just days away now from the start of The French Open (officially known as “Roland Garros”) which starts on 25 May on the world’s first clay court. Furiously competitive, the men’s singles in particular will be an interesting tournament to keep your eye on this year, as the world’s elite battle to defeat left-handed Majorcan, Rafael Nadal who has won the tournament no less than eight times out of nine appearances!

Marathon des Sable – Read, Get Set, Go!

Cited to be the toughest marathon in the world, the annual Marathon de Sables is all set to take place from 4 – 14 April in Morocco. Some 1,200 participants from around the world have signed up to this foot race which consists of multiple stages over a distance of 240km! Carrying your own backpack filled with food, clothes and sleeping gear across sand dunes, rocky terrain and in blistering conditions is not for the faint hearted, yet the event continues to attract growing attention each year from individuals and teams looking for THE extreme challenge.
