World high-diving champion Orlando Duque enlisted the help of local people as he prepared to jump 35 metres from a tree directly into the Peruvian Amazon river.
Duque, a Colombian national uses a rope ladder to climb on top of the Caucho tree, considered the most representative tree of the Amazon forest. “The view from up there is truly beautiful. You can see both sides by walking behind the tree. I don’t think you can imagine it,” he said. He added that nobody has probably ever jumped from there before.

Forget the traditional 11-sided game of football that we all know and love – Residents of Ashbourne in Derbyshire took part in the annual Shrovetide football game, said to be the world’s oldest, largest, longest and maddest game of footy.
The game is played between the Up’ards and the Down’ards, those born north and south of the River Henmore which divides the town. The game has little to do with normal football, for it has few rules – anyone can join in and hands are allowed! We love these regional UK traditions – however, bonkers!
