One of our favourite extreme sport characters is Valery Rozov. The rock-climber and wignsuit flyer extraordinaire has been seen on this blog a number of times, mainly jumping from mountains from ridiculous heights. This week saw him set yet another BASE jump world record.
Well, this time Valery has gone another step further, by jumping from the North face of Mount Everest. Never one to take the easy route, the ascent from the base camp to the jump location took four days to complete in adverse weather conditions.
7220 meters above sea level, this BASE jump became the world’s highest ever.
The jump was a fitting way to commemorate 60 years since the first ascent up the famous mountain.
Contact Ansell today if you want to follow in the footsteps of Rovoz. Whether it be mountaineering insurance, climbing insurance or base jump insurance, we have the best policy for you.

UK free runner, Mat Armitage took up a rather unusual challenge proposed to him by his girlfriend recently; to complete the Badminton Horse Trial course, on foot.
If you’ve seen the Horse Trials ov TV at all, it seems hard enough for the horses to complete, let alone a 22 year old man. This free runner does, however, possess some impressive parkour skills, allowing him to complete the course. Even though he completed it in an excruciatingly long 4 hours, this video shows off some of the fast-paced free running techniques he used to get round.
At Ansell’s To The Extreme Insurance, we cater for a number of extreme sports, including providing parkour/free running insurance.
Get in touch today if you fancy, maybe, completing the grand national on your feet. Look out for ‘The Chair’. That’s a big jump.
