Wimbledon 2015

July 14th, 2015

It’s been a jaw dropping year this year at Wimbledon with 2 weeks of intense tennis, we’ve had tantrums, trick shots and even grass eating.. Yes Djokovic ate some of the centre court grass.

Here at Extreme Insurance we want to share our top 5 moments from Wimbledon 2015..

In 5th Place we have Benoit Paire’s Outburst..

Benoit Paire took his frustration out on a line judge’s chair during his match against Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain, and promptly received a warning from the umpire.

The Frenchman went on to lose the second-round tie 2-6 4-6 6-3 6-3 6-3

And yes we do have the video

Not 1st place for Lewis Hamilton but 4th.

As many of you heard, Lewis Hamilton was turned away on Sunday from Centre court Royal box which resulted in him missing the men’s final for not being dressed ‘Appropriately’. Lewis was turned away for not wearing a jacket, tie and shoes, after having arrived in a bright floral shirt and a hat. His spokesperson said: “due to a misunderstanding over dress code, he is disappointed to have missed the final”.

Oh no Lewis.

In a very Beautiful 3rd place we have the one the only.. David Beckham.

Now if you haven’t already seen this.. i suggest you watch.. and watch again. Former England football captain, David Beckham shows he’s equally adept with his hands after a tennis ball flies into the royal box, much to the delight of the Centre Court crowd.. and women all over the country.

The ball finds its way into the crowd after deflecting off a line judges chair during the men’s doubles semi finals.

Of course we have the video for you to see.

In 2nd Place, well 1st also.. is Serena williams.

Serena Williams beat Spain’s Garbine Muguruza to win Wimbledon for the sixth time and complete the ‘Serena Slam’ as the holder of all four major titles.
The 33-year-old American won 6-4 6-4 on Centre Court to claim her 21st Grand Slam title and third of 2015. Williams withstood a late fightback from 20th seed Muguruza, 21, to come through in one hour and 23 minutes.

Williams won her sixth Wimbledon title and her first since 2012.

Well done Serena on another year being Ladies Wimbledon Champion.

And in 1st we have.. of course Novak Djokovic

Defending champion Novak Djokovic saw off seven-time champion Roger Federer in four sets to win his third Wimbledon and ninth Grand Slam title.

The Serb, 28, won 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (10-12) 6-4 6-3 to overtake the likes of Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi and Ivan Lendl in the all-time list of major winners.
Federer, 33, had hoped to become the first man to win Wimbledon eight times.

The Swiss won a thrilling second set tie-break but Djokovic came through to win in two hours and 56 minutes.

A very well done to Novak Djokovic on becoming Men’s Wimbledon Champion 2015.

Trampolining

June 1st, 2015

Trampolining is a competitive Olympic sport in which gymnasts perform acrobatics while bouncing on a trampoline. These can include simple jumps in the pike, tuck or straddle position to more complex combinations of forward or backward somersaults and twists. There are three related competitive rebound sports, synchronised trampoline, tumbling (or power tumbling) and double mini-trampoline.

In the early 1930s, George Nissen observed trapeze artistes performing tricks when bouncing off the safety net. He made the first modern trampoline in his garage to reproduce this on a smaller scale and used it to help with his diving and tumbling activities.

Competitive trampolining routines consist of combinations of 10 contacts with the trampoline bed combining varying rotations, twists and shapes with take-off and landing in one of four positions: Feet, Seat, Front & Back

A routine must always start and finish on feet. In addition to the 10 contacts with the bed in a routine, competitors must start their routine within 60 seconds after presenting to the judges. They are also are permitted up to one “out bounce”, a straight jump to control their height at the end of a routine, before sticking the landing. The trampolinist must stop completely – this means that the bed must stop moving as well – and they have to hold still for a count of 3 seconds before moving.

Off- Road Driving

May 7th, 2015

Off-roading is the activity of driving or riding a vehicle on unsurfaced roads or tracks, made of materials such as sand, gravel, riverbeds, mud, snow, rocks, and other natural terrain.

Some examples of recreational off-roading include the following:

Dune bashing

Dune bashing is a form of off-roading on sand dunes. A Large sport utility vehicle such as the Toyota Land Cruiser is an example of vehicle used (however, light weight vehicles often fare better in the extremely soft sand found on sand dunes). Vehicles driven on dunes may be equipped with a roll cage in case of an overturn; Similar to auto-racing, experience and skill is required to maneuver the car and prevent accidents.

Cross-country

Unlike stationary dune bashing that tends to revolve around a single star dune or one obstacle, cross-country off-roading is an activity that lasts several days on routes with desert or other terrains. Routes in Africa generally have obstacles in largely uninhabited and uncharted terrain. These circuit routes are over 50 km and usually around 300 km long

Mudding

Mudding is off-roading through an area of wet mud or clay.[1] The goal is to drive through as far as possible without becoming stuck. There are many types of tires that are recommended for this activity. Some tires are balloon tires, mud-terrain tires and paddle tires.

Rock Crawling

Rock crawling is a category of off-roading. Vehicles used for rock crawling are usually modified with different tires, suspension components that allow greater axle articulation, and changes in the differential gear ratio in order to obtain characteristics suitable for low speed operation for traversing obstacles.

Rock Racing

Rock Racing is very similar to rock crawling in the fact that the vehicles are driven over rocks, the difference is that there are no penalties for hitting cones, backing up or winching as is done in rock crawling. Rock racing also involves a degree of high-speed racing not seen in typical rock crawling.
