Euan Burton, 34, the two-time Olympian delighted his home fans in Glasgow with an impressive win over his Great Britain team-mate, Ben Fletcher. In the -100kg final, former Junior World Championship medallist Fletcher, 21, struggled to get into the contest and was forced to submit after 90 seconds as Burton applied a choke for ippon.
“It’s nice to win a medal here in Glasgow ahead of the Commonwealth Games,” said Burton.
“I’ve fought Ben a couple of times, mainly more for fun in Randori, but he’s a really good judo player – up and coming and somebody the British public should definitely be looking out for in the future. To be fighting him in the final is good for the health of British judo.”
Two other Britons, Matt Purssey and Theo Spalding-McIntosh, both won bronze medals in the -90kg category.

Australian, Jay Phoenix has leaped into the record books by doing more bungee jumps than anyone else in the space of 24 hours. He only needed to jump more than 106 times to claim the record, but in the end he managed an impressive 150 jumps in 21 hours.
A thick elastic cord was tied to his ankles as he jumped from a 40m-high (130ft) platform on a crane near Brisbane, in Queensland. The previous record holder was South African Kevin Scott Huntly, who jumped 105 times in 2011.
It is believed bungee jumping was invented by thrill-seeking students in the UK in the late 1970s. As well as buildings, cranes and bridges, enthusiasts have also jumped from hot air balloons and helicopters.
Fancy jumping to such depths? If the answer’s a “yes”, then make sure you have the right insurance and call 0800 1313 417 or view the full list of activities we cover.
