After the success of the XXIII Olympic PyeongChang Winter Games, the 12th Paralympic Winter Games shortly followed.
With nearly 570 athletes from 49 different nations taking part in 80 events, with a total of 241 medals being handed out. The United States came out top of the medal table with a total of 36 medals, 13 of those gold. However the biggest cheer of the games was reserved for the last but one day of competition, when Sin Eui-hyun won the first winter Olympic gold for South Korea in the 7.5km seated cross-country ski race.
The games were a great success and there was no need for the initial worry about low ticket sales as over 343,000 tickets were sold. That’s 16,000 more than Sochi 4 years previous, 100,000 more than 2010 Vancouver and more than double 2006 in Torino.
