It’s not very often we get invited to the cinema, let alone a film premier at Leicester Square but last week Ansell’s attended the first showing of a mountain epic documentary called “The Last Great Climb”. Set in Queen Maud Land, Antartica, the film follows mountain adventurer, Leo Houlding (you can follow Leo on twitter @leohoulding) and his team as they become the first climbers to summit Ulvetanna.
The 2,930m granite peak is widely considered to be the most demanding peak on the harshest continent – and has been described as one of the last great climbs.
On reaching the summit, leader Leo commented: “We have just completed the first ascent of one of the world’s last great climbs and are all suitably psyched.
“A decade of dreaming, a year of planning, a month on the ice, and a week on the wall and we have done it. It’s a dream come true.”
The film is amazing, powerful stuff and for all you climbers out there, a true inspiration. With sheer grit, determination and skill, it just shows what can be achieved.
As Leo’s insurer, we are immensely proud of him.
