Although some say that cliff diving is the least complicated of all extreme sports, it’s certainly not the case when you through a solar eclipse and some extreme photography into the mix!
On August 21st four cliff divers took up the challenge to dive from a custom made platform during the American eclipse, whilst a creative team of photographers planned to create some magnificent imagery.
The team behind this only had 55 seconds to get the shots so lots of practice dives and creativity were required to make this happen. One of the divers describe it as “One of the craziest dives I’ve ever done in my life and we kept talking about that is was going to get really dark but we didn’t think it was going to be that dark so standing up there we wanted to get some light in the water. It’s exciting you know, you have less than a minute to do your dive and it’s going to be tricky, more difficult than normal but just that feeling of having only one chance to do it makes it more exciting”.
Cliff diving usually requires no special equipment or clothing, all it takes is the necessary guts to throw yourself from a height into a pool of water below. More and more people are now travelling to exotic locations around the world to take part in this ultimate thrill, wether it’s the free-falling or the not knowing what lies underneath that gets the adrenaline pumping!
