Share the dream…
6,600 men and women from 71 different nations took to Australia to compete in the 2018 Commonwealth Games and for the first time ever, at major multi-sport event, an equal amount of events for both female and male athletes took place.
Australia told the world to ‘Share the dream’ but they took the majority of the spoils themselves by topping the medal table with 80 golds and a total of 198 medals overall. England finished in second place with 45 gold medals and India third with 26. 6 nations managed to win their first ever medal at a Commonwealth Games!
It really looked like Australia did a great job of hosting, not only their largest sports event this decade but also the largest in Commonwealth Game history.
