We all know that the Americans are a little different when it comes to sport. ‘The World Series’ in baseball, participated by only North-American teams. American ‘Football’, where hands are predominantly used to run about with with the ball. And, erm, lacrosse.
However, things may just have got a little bit stranger. The real life version of the physically impossible game of Quidditch, made famous by the Harry Potter books, was born out of a dormitory in Vermont, USA. Yes, the game with the broomstick flying things.
In fact, the 6th Quidditch World Cup was played this month, with The University of Texas running out winners. It’s fair to say that these guys and girls were taking this very seriously and it was stated that 80 teams from across the globe competed for the title. Make of it what you will!
