All eyes will again be on London for the next couple of weeks as the Paralympics gets underway. Promising the same sporting commitment and pride as the Olympics; we’re looking forward to getting stuck into a myriad of unrecognisable sports, finding new heroes and laughing at the misfortunes of the Austrialians again (sorry if you’re reading this down under).
A few months back we covered the brilliant Paralympic sport of Wheelchair rugby, or, as it’s more affectionately known, Murderball.
We thought we’d give you a heads up some other sports to look out for at the London 2012 Paralympics.
1. GOAL BALL. Does exactly what is says on the tin. A specially adapted game for the partially sighted and blind. The aim of the game is to throw the ball… in the goal. Here’s a video to explain all.
2. BOCCIA. I know, it’s not exactly what you’d call extreme but I think this could be quite a tense little game to get into.
3. 7-A-SIDE FOOTBALL. An adapted version of the 11-a-side game, this version is played by athletes with cerebral palsy. Look out for Scott Sinclair’s brother, Martin, playing for the Great Britian team.
Let us know in the comments, which Paralympic sports you’re looking forward to.
